Berlin, September 21, 2022: When Anita Gödiker founded Satellite Office in Berlin 25 years ago, terms like “co-working” or “flexible workspaces” didn’t even exist. She is a pioneer in her industry. As early as 25 years ago, Internet stars of the time such as Paulus Neff of Pixelpark, Joel Berger of Myspace and the Samwer brothers with their ringtone team Jamba found their way to Satellite Office. To this day, the shooting stars of various industries cavort in the corridors: Bankers, management consultants, politicians, lobbyists, coaches, FinTechs, and many SMEs and individual entrepreneurs.
Satellite Office founder Anita Gödiker was inspired by the giant construction sites around Potsdamer Platz in the capital in the mid-1990s. At the time, she questioned where the many temporary project offices were located. In 1997, she finally founded Satellite Office and in 25 years developed it into the leading provider of flexible offices, workstations and conference rooms – starting in the mid-range segment and today in the luxury segment.
Satellite Office today: Around 500 offices with almost 70,000 workstations, 7,000 customers, 15 locations in Germany, Switzerland and Italy, 120 employees
The company’s success confirms that it is on the right track: Under the “Satellite Office” brand, the company is now expanding internationally, based on a long-term strategy. Starting with a single location at Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin, the company now offers 15 locations in Germany, Switzerland and, from 2023, Italy. The opening will take place in Geneva before the end of the year, marking the first time that the facility has been opened in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. This will be followed next year by Stuttgart, another location in Zurich and one in Milan. Around 70,000 people now work temporarily in one of the Satellite Offices’ 500 offices and open spaces, bistros and lounge areas. Satellite Office itself has a team of 120 employees.
History with a great future
“We are growing steadily while remaining down-to-earth,” says Anita Gödiker, founder, owner and managing director, describing the company’s path. “The flat corporate structures keep the company nimble even in stormy times and ensure continuous growth without investors,” she adds. Having grown organically, the company is now one of the strong but rock-solid partners in the SME sector, in the financial world, among consultants and corporate groups.
A history with a great future. Since 2019, the company has been following a philosophy it has developed itself over the years: pureSilent®. The human being in the center, who perceives with all five senses. Today, all Satellite Office locations live this principle: with their own room concepts, the best acoustic worlds, lighting, color schemes and sustainable materials.
This week, the anniversary became a jubilee: With much fanfare, Anita Gödiker celebrated her success with over 200 invited guests in Berlin at the Satellite Office Haus Cumberland on Kurfürstendamm. For the anniversary, a coffee table book was designed with a retrospective of the last 25 years. Available at all Satellite Offices. Alongside large-scale images, there are stories from partners and customers spanning a quarter of a century.
