A DETAILED LOOK AT KAISERLICHE POSTDIREKTION.
Renaissance Revival meets Baroque Revival: government official Wilhelm Walter designed the imperial post office, whilst post office building inspector Ludwig Meyer oversaw construction, which took a total of four years: 1908 to 1912. The facade of the imposing property is made from red brick and adorned with Dorlaer shell limestone. The attractive mix comprising elements of Renaissance Revival and Baroque Revival is typical of the architecture of the magnificent post buildings of the Imperial period.
Kaiserliche Postdirektion is located in Französische Strasse, a top address in Berlin-Mitte, mere metres away from Friedrichstrasse. With ideal access to short and long-distance public transport, the location couldn’t possibly be any better. Galeries Lafayette and the impressive Gendarmenmarkt ensure a flair of savoir vivre. Treat yourself to an evening of entertainment at Komische Oper or Konzerthaus Berlin after a busy day of work.
