IMPERIAL POSTAL DIRECTORATE IN DETAIL.

Neo-Renaissance meets Neo-Baroque: The Imperial Postal Directorate was designed by the secret building councillor Wilhelm Walter, the execution was led by the postal building inspector Ludwig Meyer. The construction work lasted a total of four years, from 1908-1912. The façade of the imposing property is made of red brick and Dorla shell limestone ornaments. The attractive melange of neo-Renaissance and neo-baroque elements is typical of the architecture of representative post office buildings of the imperial era.

The Imperial Post Office is located on Französische Straße, one of the top addresses in Berlin-Mitte, just a few metres from Friedrichstraße. The connection to local and long-distance public transport is ideal. The location just couldn't be better. The Lafayette Gallery and the impressive Gendarmenmarkt provide a touch of savoir vivre. You can end your evening in style at the Komische Oper or the Konzerthaus Berlin.
