Built around 1900 for the Bavarian Ministry of Transport, it was permanently restored a hundred years later. Architecturally, it has resulted in a unique ensemble combining both historical and very modern elements. The ensemble of the Munich Hopfenpost is part of Bavarian contemporary history. It was built between 1905 and 1912 and served as the Bavarian Ministry of Transport with a central letter office. Munich city architect Hocheder was responsible for the neo-baroque building at the time.
In the post-war period, the building was used by Deutsche Post. In 1991, a modern section was added, the Neue Hopfenpost. After the turn of the millennium, the extensive restoration began to return the splendid building to its former glory. Today, the Hopfenpost stands as a prestigious ensemble exuding historical charm and as part of the most modern business centers in Europe.
